Smart Airport and Aviation Partnership
Announces 2021 Aviation Accelerator Cohort

JUNE 9, 2021 — ATLANTIC AND CAPE MAY COUNTIES, NEW JERSEY

The Smart Airport and Aviation Partnership (SAAP), a non-profit group bringing together government, industry and academia to help build the Southern New Jersey Aviation Hub, has announced its selections for the 2021 cohort of flightPlan, the Aviation Business Accelerator.

This year’s cohort includes companies from around the world, with a concentration in some of our nation’s key technology focus areas: artificial intelligence (AI), quantum information science (a fancy way of describing “big data” and asking how we sort and use all the information that computers now enable us to gather), and air mobility. Autonomous vehicles including the drones that are becoming addiction benefits ubiquitous in use cases throughout society, as well as vehicles of the future like “flying taxis,” also have roles in the cohort companies.

The 2021 selections are:

  • AIvIA – This company, based in London and Israel and looking to enter the United States market, develops AI software that detects anomalies in patterns of behavior. It fuses big data with input from multiple sensor sources for its predictive analytics and has vast potential for “Smart Airport” applications.
  • Dronamics – Several top global logistics companies are focusing interest on this company’s flagship aircraft, the Black Swan, for its cargo-carrying capacity and flight endurance performance. Dronamics, based in Bulgaria and London and looking for U.S. entry, aims to enable same-day shipping over long distances by operating “middle mile” networks for air cargo worldwide.
  • Envision Innovative Solutions Inc. develops and enhances avionics and Air Traffic Control (ATC) software products and engages in protocol analysis, standards evolution, testing and validation, among other areas. Using Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR), Envision offers training applications and big data visualization. The company has a special interest in weather visualization.
  • Neural Guard – This company, based in Israel and London and seeking U.S. entry, produces automated threat detection solutions powered by AI for the security screening market. Its technology detects high-risk items in CT and X-Ray imagery by leveraging neural networks to analyze the output of baggage scanning systems at airports.
  • Owen Bruce – This Maryland sole proprietor looks to introduce young people in underrepresented groups to aircraft maintenance technician careers through immersive technologies such as Augmented Reality. • Topologe – Topologe is a government contractor that provides AI solutions for the aviation industry by developing use cases that promote safety. Utilizing Machine Learning and Natural Language Processing models with proper data governance, Topologe applications enable faster data-driven decisions.
  • Unifly – Originally founded in Belgium, Unifly established offices in the Northeastern United States in 2018 and is looking to accelerate its growth. It has a substantial presence in other countries where it serves as a UAS (Unmanned Aircraft Systems) Traffic Management technology provider to governing authorities, and it is recognized on a global basis for enabling safe drone integration.
  • Write to Heal – Based in New York City and Barrington, New Jersey, founder and creative Lisa Regina is developing a television video series entitled “Heroic Episodes” about veterans. Veterans are one of SAAP’s key focuses, and Write to Heal focuses on offering training opportunities to vets in drone and other aviation-related technologies.
